Kyrie Irving commits to an extension with the Dallas Mavericks and declines the player option.

Here’s the confirmed update:

Kyrie Irving has declined his $43 million player option for the 2025‑26 season and is set to remain with the Dallas Mavericks.

He’s agreed to a three‑year, $119 million extension, featuring a player option for the 2027‑28 season

This extension reduces his annual average from $43 million to around $39–40 million, giving Dallas about $5.7 million in cap flexibility for additional roster moves .

Kyrie remains sidelined recovering from a torn ACL sustained in early March. The Mavericks expect him back on the court as early as January 2026

With this deal, Dallas locks in a core featuring Irving, Anthony Davis, and new draft pick Cooper Flagg, as they plan to use the midlevel exception to bolster depth around his rehab timeline
