Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel says he is ready to embrace the spotlight as he prepares for his first NFL start this weekend.
The 24-year-old, drafted earlier this year out of Oklahoma, has been handed the reins after a string of injuries at the position. Despite the pressure of stepping in, Gabriel struck a confident tone when speaking to reporters this week.
“I’ve prepared for this moment my whole life,” Gabriel said. “The speed of the game is different, but I trust the work I’ve put in, the coaches around me, and my teammates. I’m ready to go out there and compete.”
Known in college for his quick release and poise under pressure, Gabriel will be tested immediately against a strong defensive front. His ability to stay calm and execute the playbook will be key as the Browns look to keep their season on track.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski praised Gabriel’s work ethic and leadership in practice, noting that the young quarterback has “earned the respect of the locker room.”
Browns fans will be eager to see how Gabriel handles the leap from college star to NFL starter when he takes the field for the first time under center.
