De Bruyne bids farewell to Man City fans

Kevin De Bruyne received an emotional farewell from Manchester City fans during his final home game at the Etihad Stadium on May 20, 2025. The 33-year-old midfielder, who announced his departure at the end of the season after a decade with the club, was honored with a heartfelt tribute. Fans unveiled a striking tifo reading “King Kev,” celebrating his pivotal role in City’s ascent to footballing greatness over the past ten years.
In the match against Bournemouth, De Bruyne had a chance to score but missed an open goal, hitting the crossbar. Despite this, City secured a 3-1 victory. After the game, De Bruyne was given a guard of honor and a tribute video featuring messages from former teammates like Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany. Manager Pep Guardiola was visibly emotional, shedding tears during the ceremony.
De Bruyne’s decade at Manchester City was marked by significant achievements, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and a Champions League victory. He made over 420 appearances, scoring 108 goals and providing 177 assists.
To commemorate his contributions, the club announced plans to erect a statue in his honor outside the stadium, alongside a mosaic and a road named after him at the club’s academy.
De Bruyne expressed his gratitude to the fans, stating, “I wanted to play with creativity, I wanted to play with passion. I wanted to enjoy football, and I hope everyone enjoyed it.”
His final appearance for Manchester City is set for the upcoming match against Fulham
