De Ligt Out For Europa League Final

Matthijs de Ligt will miss today’s UEFA Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur due to injury. The Dutch defender sustained a knock during United’s 4–3 loss to Brentford on May 4, and despite initial optimism about a swift recovery, he has not regained full fitness in time for the final. Although he traveled to Bilbao with the squad, he was not included in the matchday lineup.
De Ligt’s absence is a significant setback for United’s defense, especially with Lisandro Martínez also sidelined due to a long-term knee injury. Manager Ruben Amorim is expected to start Harry Maguire, with Leny Yoro potentially partnering him if deemed fit. Diogo Dalot, returning from a calf injury, may be available from the bench.
On a positive note, forward Joshua Zirkzee, previously ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury, has made a surprising recovery and is included in the squad for the final.
The Europa League final is set to kick off tonight in Bilbao, with both teams aiming to secure European silverware.
