Man Utd: Red Devils sent 'extremely dangerous' warning over 'quality' summer signing

Manchester United are on high alert regarding the potential transfer of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. The 22-year-old forward has garnered significant attention following an impressive Premier League season, netting 12 goals and providing 2 assists despite Ipswich’s relegation.

Delap’s contract includes a £30 million release clause activated by Ipswich’s drop to the Championship, making him an attractive prospect for top-tier clubs. Manchester United have initiated discussions with Delap, aiming to bolster their attacking options, especially given the underwhelming performances from current strikers Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

However, United face stiff competition. Chelsea have also expressed strong interest in Delap, with reports suggesting the player favors a move to a club participating in European competitions—a criterion United failed to meet after their recent Europa League final loss to Tottenham.

Adding to the competition, Newcastle United have reportedly activated Delap’s release clause, indicating their serious intent to secure his services. Liverpool have also been linked with a move, especially as they consider replacements for Darwin Núñez.

Manchester City’s buy-back option for Delap, set at £40 million, appears unlikely to be exercised, potentially clearing the path for other Premier League clubs to pursue the striker.
