Fifa President claims Cristiano Ronaldo could play in Club World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo could participate in the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, despite his current club, Al Nassr, not qualifying for the tournament. In an interview with YouTuber IShowSpeed, Infantino stated, “Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup… who knows” .
The 2025 Club World Cup is set to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13 and will feature an expanded format with 32 teams. To facilitate player movements ahead of the tournament, FIFA has introduced a special transfer window from June 1 to June 10, allowing participating clubs to register new players .
Reports indicate that several clubs, particularly from Brazil, have shown interest in signing Ronaldo for the tournament. An unnamed Brazilian club has reportedly made a significant offer to the 40-year-old forward. Botafogo, one of the Brazilian teams qualified for the tournament, has been linked to Ronaldo, with their coach, Renato Paiva, commenting, “But if he came, you can’t say no to a star like that” .
While there have been rumors about Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca’s interest in Ronaldo, a source close to the club clarified that any discussions were informal and did not progress beyond a casual conversation .
Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr is set to expire this summer, and with the team not participating in the Club World Cup, a short-term move to a qualified club could provide him an opportunity to compete in the tournament once more. As the tournament approaches, fans eagerly await confirmation of whether Ronaldo will make a final appearance on the global stage
