Bayer Leverkusen Announced New Coach

Erik ten Hag has reportedly agreed to become the next head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, pending final confirmation from the club. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag has accepted a two-year contract offer from the Bundesliga side, signaling his readiness to replace Xabi Alonso, who is expected to take over at Real Madrid .
While Ten Hag has committed to the role, Bayer Leverkusen has also been in discussions with other candidates, notably Cesc Fàbregas, currently managing Italian club Como 1907. Fàbregas remains under contract until 2028, which could complicate negotiations . Despite this, Ten Hag is considered the frontrunner due to his availability and willingness to take on the project .
Ten Hag’s potential appointment marks his return to management seven months after his departure from Manchester United in October 2024. During his tenure at United, he secured both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup but was dismissed following a series of poor results . Prior to that, he enjoyed a successful spell at Ajax, winning multiple Eredivisie titles and leading the team to a Champions League semi-final.
An official announcement from Bayer Leverkusen is anticipated soon, as the club finalizes its decision on the managerial appointment.
