BREAKING NEWS : Thomas Frank ‘agrees’ to accept the Tottenham position

Thomas Frank has agreed to become the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, succeeding Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed despite leading the club to their first European trophy in 17 years. Frank, 51, is set to leave Brentford after nearly seven years, having successfully established them in the Premier League and secured a 10th-place finish this season. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is now negotiating a compensation package with Brentford. Frank could be the fourth permanent Spurs manager in four years. He also plans to bring Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo to Tottenham, potentially costing a combined £70 million—£10 million for Frank’s transfer and £60 million for Mbeumo, who may also receive a £250,000 weekly wage, making him the club’s highest-paid player. Tottenham’s recent success in the Europa League secures them Champions League football, which could help attract Mbeumo. Frank is expected to lead a significant recovery in league performance after Tottenham ended the season with a record 22 defeats, finishing 17th in the Premier League. Other managerial candidates included Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola, but Frank is the favored choice.
Frank has informed Brentford of his decision to leave, and Tottenham are prepared to pay his reported £9 million release clause. The Danish coach has a strong relationship with Spurs’ technical director Johan Lange, which has facilitated the negotiations. Frank’s appointment marks a new chapter for Tottenham as they aim to revamp their domestic campaign and build on recent successes.
Mauricio Pochettino, who previously managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019, has ruled himself out of a return to North London. He emphasized that his current role as manager of the U.S. men’s national team is his primary focus, making a move to Tottenham “not realistic.”
