Pacers stun Knicks in Game 1 of Eastern Conference finals

In a thrilling Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Indiana Pacers mounted a remarkable comeback to defeat the New York Knicks 138–135 in overtime at Madison Square Garden. Trailing by 17 points late in the fourth quarter, the Pacers rallied to tie the game and ultimately secure the win in overtime.
Key Performances
Tyrese Haliburton: Led the Pacers with 31 points and 11 assists. He forced overtime with a buzzer-beating jumper, though his foot was on the line, making it a two-pointer instead of a three. In a nod to Pacers legend Reggie Miller, Haliburton mimicked the iconic “choke” gesture, recalling Miller’s memorable moment against the Knicks in the 1994 playoffs.
Aaron Nesmith: Scored a career-high 30 points, hitting eight of nine three-pointers, including five in the final minutes of regulation to spark the comeback.
Posting and Toasting
Andrew Nembhard: Contributed 15 points, including crucial baskets in overtime.
For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson delivered an impressive 43-point performance, tying Patrick Ewing’s franchise record for most 30+ point playoff games. Karl-Anthony Towns added 35 points and 12 rebounds. Despite their efforts, the Knicks were unable to maintain their lead, committing key turnovers and missing critical free throws in the closing moments.
Series Outlook
The Pacers now lead the series 1–0. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday night at Madison Square Garden. Both teams will look to adjust and prepare for what promises to be a fiercely contested series.
