SAD NEWS : At least 11 killed during stampede outside cricket pitch in India

A tragic stampede occurred on June 4, 2025, outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India, during a celebratory parade for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) following their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The incident resulted in at least 11 fatalities and over 50 injuries, with some reports indicating as many as 79 deaths .
Details of the Incident
The stampede occurred as an estimated 200,000 fans—double the expected number—gathered outside the stadium to celebrate RCB’s victory over the Punjab Kings. Overcrowding ensued when attendees attempted to force their way through a small gate to join the celebrations. The chaos intensified as individuals without passes attempted to breach the gates, causing congestion and clashes .
Emergency services struggled to reach victims due to crowd congestion. Several deaths were confirmed at Vydehi Multispecialty Hospital and Bowring Hospital .
Official Response and Investigations
In response to the tragedy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh each for the families of the deceased and assured free medical treatment for the injured. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stampede .
Additionally, social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a police complaint against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), accusing them of negligence in managing the event .
