TRANSFER: Frimpong completes Liverpool medical as Deal Edge Closer

Yes, Jeremie Frimpong has completed his medical ahead of a £29.5 million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool. The 24-year-old Dutch international is set to sign a five-year contract, becoming the first major signing under new manager Arne Slot. The deal was facilitated by Liverpool activating Frimpong’s release clause, with personal terms already agreed upon.
Frimpong is expected to wear the No. 30 shirt at Anfield, a number that hasn’t been used at the club in over a decade. He will provide competition at right-back alongside Conor Bradley, who recently extended his contract through 2029. This move comes as Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to leave Liverpool on a free transfer to Real Madrid.
While the club has yet to make an official announcement, Frimpong’s arrival is anticipated to be confirmed later this week. Manager Arne Slot has remained tight-lipped about the transfer, stating, “The moment we announce it, that is the moment to talk about it in general. We haven’t announced anything so no need to talk about anyone.”
The Standard
Frimpong’s addition is part of Liverpool’s broader strategy to strengthen their defense, with the club also pursuing Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez.
