Liverpool are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike for a fee of £84 million. The 22-year-old French forward enjoyed a standout season in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals and providing 8 assists, drawing interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea. Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, and sporting director, Michael Edwards, are said to be keen on securing his signature as they look to bolster their attacking options .

This move comes amid speculation surrounding the future of Liverpool’s current striker, Darwin Núñez. Despite being signed for £85 million in 2022, Núñez has struggled to make a significant impact, scoring just five league goals last season. Reports suggest that Liverpool may consider a player-plus-cash swap deal, offering Núñez in exchange for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, who has been in impressive form this season .

However, Newcastle United have firmly rejected any approaches for Isak, valuing him at over £100 million and emphasizing his importance to the team .
