Transfer : Man Utd suffer second transfer Blow For Target

Manchester United’s pursuit of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has encountered a significant setback. Despite earlier optimism, Delap appears poised to reject a move to Old Trafford in favor of another Premier League destination. According to reports, the 22-year-old is ready to snub Manchester United’s interest, having chosen a different club as his preferred destination ahead of a potential £30 million summer transfer.
Delap has been a standout performer for Ipswich this season, netting 12 goals in 33 Premier League appearances, even as the club faced relegation. His impressive form has attracted attention from several top-flight clubs, including Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Everton. Notably, Newcastle is reportedly preparing to offer Delap a role that could include Champions League football, which may have influenced his decision.
Manchester United had identified Delap as a key target to bolster their attacking options, especially after a season where their forwards underperformed. The club even held face-to-face talks with the striker and were prepared to meet his £30 million release clause, activated by Ipswich’s relegation. However, Delap’s reported wage demands of up to £150,000 per week may have been a stumbling block.
With Delap seemingly set on a move elsewhere, Manchester United will need to explore alternative options to strengthen their forward line ahead of the new season.
