Manchester City is “nearing” a deal to recruit a Premier League player for £50 million.

Manchester City are reportedly closing in on a £50 million deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri. The 23-year-old French defender has impressed with his performances at left-back under Gary O’Neil. City have been in discussions with Wolves about the possibility of signing Aït-Nouri, with the Premier League side placing a £60 million valuation on their star full-back. However, Manchester City are aiming to secure a deal for less than that amount, possibly through a player-plus-cash swap involving Sergio Gomez, who has struggled for game time since joining City .
Strengthening the left-back position is a priority for Pep Guardiola, who has had to deploy out-of-position players like Josko Gvardiol and Nico O’Reilly in that role. Aït-Nouri’s arrival would provide a specialist option in that position.
In addition to Aït-Nouri, Manchester City are also in advanced negotiations to sign Lyon’s 21-year-old midfielder Rayan Cherki. Cherki has been a long-standing transfer target for City and is now likely to become their first summer signing .
City are aiming to finalize most of their transfer business before departing for the United States on June 12 for the Club World Cup, where they face Wydad AC on June 18 .
