Manchester City pact for Lyon superstar Rayan Cherki

Manchester City has agreed to sign Lyon’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki for a fee of €35 million, potentially rising to €40 million with add-ons. The deal includes a five-year contract, keeping Cherki at the Etihad until 2030 .
Cherki has been a standout performer for Lyon, registering 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 appearances during the 2024–25 season. His impressive performances in the UEFA Nations League, including a goal and an assist against Spain and a start against Germany, further highlighted his potential .
This acquisition is part of Manchester City’s proactive approach to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The club has also secured deals for Rayan Aït-Nouri (£31.2 million), Tijjani Reijnders (£46.3 million), and Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea .
Cherki’s move to Manchester City follows interest from several top clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea, who had previously been linked with the French talent. However, it is City that has secured his signature, adding another promising young player to their ranks
